Dental contracts in England

2022 to 2023 workforce data collection form

As detailed in the ‘additional information from NHSE for dental providers in England’, published under the ‘Contract management arrangements for 2022/23’ on the Provider Assurance dental page, there is a requirement for contracts to complete a workforce form for quarter 1 in 2022 to 2023, where they will need income protection.

To reflect that the period of emergency response ended, the withdrawal of the dental standard operating procedure (SOP) and the government support schemes closed a reduction in workforce categories was discussed. These were captured in the revised WTE model but were not implemented in Compass. Several categories were removed and the description for ‘Transition to recovery’ was changed to ‘Consultations and face to face treatment’. When transferring information into the Compass workforce form, use the ‘Transition to recovery’ box to record this change in activity.Covid-19 2022-23 Workforce data collection for WTE calculation tool (Excel: 669KB)

The Excel whole time equivalent (WTE) tool has been updated to reflect the above changes and can be used to record WTE for up to 30 members of staff. If a contract has staff numbers exceeding 30, save additional files and add totals together, as required.
