With effect from 1 April 2025, the England Infected Blood Support Scheme (EIBSS) is now closed to new applications for anyone who has historically been infected with hepatitis C, HIV or both, from NHS blood or blood products.
On 21 July 2025, the government announced that a further interim payment of £210,000 will be made to the estates of infected people who died after joining an infected blood support scheme. As soon as more details have been confirmed, we will update further.
The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) will be responsible for all future compensation payments. For more information including details on how they will open the service more widely, visit their website.
Applications for interim payments to estates continue to remain open and guidance on how to apply, the eligibility criteria, and the application process is available at: www.gov.uk/infected-blood-compensation-estates.
