NHSBSA to launch Concessionary Prices platform

The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) will launch a Concessionary Prices platform to allow pharmaceutical suppliers to digitally submit drug pricing and stock data to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

The new platform will streamline how the NHSBSA collect pharmaceutical pricing and stock information. The digital platform replaces the current process of contacting pharmaceutical suppliers for this data.

The service supports the wider NHS as the data helps DHSC determine if drug price concessions are needed. If so, DHSC will then reimburse community pharmacies for dispensed drugs ensuring continuous medicines supply across the NHS.

Pharmaceutical suppliers will be able to access historical submissions (only for submissions dated from the platform’s go live date onwards) through this free service.

The Health Services Products (Provision and Disclosure of Information) Regulations 2018 specifies that pharmaceutical suppliers must submit drug prices and stock data to DHSC.

A launch date will be communicated to pharmaceutical suppliers by email when a date has been confirmed.
