Shortened MYS claims process for NHS Discharge Medicines Service coming soon

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and NHS England (NHSE) are introducing a streamlined process for Discharge Medicines Service (DMS) claims within the NHS Business Services Authority's (NHSBSA) Manage Your Service (MYS) portal.

The new MYS journey is more user-friendly and will save pharmacy contractors time when submitting DMS claims.

The new MYS journey for DMS will go live at 12:01am on Sunday 6 July 2025.

The new MYS journey allows claims for all three DMS stages, either individually or in any combination based on patient needs. However, pharmacy owners should only submit their claims once all DMS stages that they can provide are completed.

A claim for a partially completed service can only be made if:

  • the patient is uncontactable or withdraws consent following completion of DMS stage one
  • the patient changes pharmacy after DMS stage one has been provided temporary
  • pharmacy closures mean that the service could not be completed

Pharmacy contractors must:

  • still submit their claims within three months of service completion under the new MYS journey for DMS, in line with Drug Tariff requirements
  •  keep evidence of service specification compliance for both the current and new DMS MYS journeys for three years in case they are selected for a post payment verification review
