ePACT2: Pharmacy First data now available in Analysis Builder tool

On 31 January 2024, the new Pharmacy First - Clinical Pathways (PFCP) Advanced Service was introduced. The service provides advice and NHS funded treatment, where appropriate, for seven common conditions.

PFCP product data (from February 2024 data onwards) is flowing into ePACT2, IPP and Remuneration reports. We are currently developing user friendly fields that will enable a user to analyse or view this data, where users have the appropriate access.

You will need to have the ‘Create’ analysis option on your user account to access this data.

You will be able to include or exclude the PFCP from your own reports by using the following criteria in your analysis:

  • The hierarchy view for ‘England prescribing organisations’ does not include PFCP.
  • The hierarchy view for ‘All prescribing organisations’ does include PFCP. For Pharmacy First organisations, you should select Practice Type column and filter on ‘Contractor’.

Below is the XML code for a template report using the ‘All Prescribing Organisations’ method (initially filtered for April ’24 data and first ICB alphabetically, showing Practice and drug Presentation level)

Pharmacy First data - All Prescribing Organisation template XML (txt file: 4.42KB)

The hierarchy for ‘Dispensing Organisations’ does include PFCP. For Pharmacy First organisations, you should select in the Reporting Attributes folder, Submission Fragment column and filter on ‘B’.

Below is the XML code for a template report using the ‘Dispensing Organisations’ method – (initially filtered for April ’24 data and first ICB alphabetically, showing Practice and drug Presentation level)

Pharmacy First data - Dispensing Organsation template XML (txt file: 4.12KB)

Both template reports will produce the same data; they use different methods to access it in the system.

Recreate either of the template reports in ePACT2 using the XML code by following the Sharing Content with other Users (sharing the XML) user guide from the ‘Recreating an analysis using the XML’ section.

If no organisation or filters are selected e.g. only Items/NIC, then PFCP data will be included. Where a NIC value of £0.00 or the BNF Chapter 19 Other Drugs and Preparations is returned, this indicates there was a consultation with no items supplied.
