HRT PPCs cover certain HRT medicines. Your GP may prescribe you other medicines that are not covered by an HRT PPC.
It's important to check that the medicine you need is covered before buying an HRT PPC.
The medicines are listed A to Z by the product name. This is the brand name the manufacturer gives their medicine.
Generic versions of these medicines are also covered if the generic drug name shows on the prescription. The generic drug name is usually the name of the active ingredient in the medicine.
You can find the name of your medicine on the prescription or the medicine packaging.
If the medicine you need is not listed here, check with your GP or pharmacist before purchasing an HRT PPC.

The list is subject to change and was last updated on 1 August 2024. This change was due to the removal of the following medicines that were discontinued:
- Bedol - Estradiol 2mg tablets
- Climanor - Medroxyprogesterone 5mg tablets
- Clinorette - Medroxyprogesterone 5mg tablets
Although they are no longer covered by the HRT PPC, if you are prescribed these medicines you may still save money with a 3 or 12 month PPC that covers all NHS prescriptions.
Why some HRT medicines are not listed
HRT PPCs only cover HRT medicines that are also licensed to treat the menopause in the UK.
If your HRT medicine is covered but you take it for reasons other than the menopause, you can still use an HRT PPC.
