Background and aim
The aim of the project was to scan the records held within the Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne, and Wear (CNTW) Trust’s two record libraries to allow them to be available electronically. This would provide clinical services with easy and quick access to the correct records and enable safe qualitative care and treatment of our service users.
By digitising the paper records and making them available via CNTW's electronic record system, we helped equip their clinical workforce with access to historic information that would inform robust clinical decision making.
In addition to improving patient safety and care, the aim of digitalisation would improve service efficiency and support CNTW environmental objectives.
What we did
The Trust Record’s Department and NHSBSA worked together to establish a comprehensive set of requirements and scanning specifications, in accordance with BSI scanning standards, to enable the project to progress.
NHSBSA provided a supportive and professional service throughout the project with excellent communication between teams.
Results
The CTNW trust said:
