Stakeholder pensions

Stakeholder pensions are an alternative way of saving for retirement.

They are not normally recommended as a main pension for someone who can join the NHS Pension Scheme.

Your employer must offer an NHS stakeholder pension if you cannot join the scheme for some reason.

If you're a member of the Scheme, you can also use an NHS stakeholder pension to top up your main Scheme benefits. You can do this instead of, or as well as, other top up arrangements.

We cannot guarantee your fund or the amount of pension this produces because stakeholder contributions are invested with an external provider.
