Divorce or dissolution of civil partnership can affect your NHS pension.

The court treats the value of pension benefits as an asset and may make an order to share the value of this asset between the parties involved.

How to apply

To apply for a cash equivalent transfer value (CETV) for this purpose complete the Pensions on divorce or dissolution of civil partnership application CETV request (PD1) form (PDF: 215KB) and send to us.

If you're an active member, or you left within the last 12 months, you must also ask your employer to complete the Pay details request form (PD2) (PDF: 165KB). When completed, send this with the PD1 form to us. The address is on the form.

We'll process your request within 3 months of receipt. A CETV can be issued for an active or deferred member within 6 weeks for a fee. Details on the fees applicable are available in the schedule of charges (PDF: 244KB).
